Lane fighting a wildland
fire in Idaho in 1994.
Lane was raised in Wellfleet, on Cape Cod, where he developed his
respect for nature and the environment.. He received his BS in Biology
from Bates College in 1991. Lane worked for the National Park Service
as a Wildland Firefighter and also joined the Wellfleet Fire Department
for a short while (he also worked a brief stint as a clammer) before
moving to Boston to become a law enforcement park ranger at Boston
National Historical Park. Lane worked on their computer systems
too, and that lead him to the private sector where he began a career
in Information Techonology (IT).

Stuart with our cat Sigyn
Lane met his partner, Stuart Wells, while living in Boston and
they soon started looking for a place to buy a house. Lane knew
he wanted to live in a smal town near the water, not too far from
Boston, but not too close either. Rowley fit the bill perfectly,
and in 1997 they moved into December Farm with their cats. Lane and Stuart are now well-known figures in town.

Lane on his parents' boat
In 2001 Lane joined the Conservation Commission, and was voted its Chair this
past year. His work with the Commission is extremely rewarding and
very educational.

December Farm's

Lane continues to work in IT while also working to get December
Farm growing raspberries. This year they are putting in a greenhouse
and many rows of berries.
Lane looks forward to serviing Rowley in many ways long into the
future.
