Lane Bourn for Rowley Selectman

Issues

Here are some of my positions on issues affecting Rowley and its citizens.

  • Rowley needs a downtown center that is thriving and alive. We need to draw people to the center of town.
  • Rowley needs to manage its growth and development wisely and appropriately. People are moving away because they can't afford to remain here and that's not fair.
  • We should seek to attract commercial development that creates jobs for local residents and provides tax revenue to the town.
  • We need to work with existing businesses and be good neighbors to them — and they need to be good neighbors to us.
  • We need to take the lead on affordable housing and Chapter 40B developments so we can maintain control and oversight. We need to work with our local legislators to regain that local control.
  • Rowley is blessed to have multiple farms still in town. We need to work to keep our farmers productive and working. We should promote "buy local" programs and work with our farmers at every opportunty.
  • Rowley has a wonderful supply of open space. We should promote what we have through local schools and educational programs, and work to protect other worthy parcels.
  • We need to make better use of our Geographic Information Systems (GIS) (computer mapping) software to track permits and development in town.
